Introducing the Unique Style of Adrienne!

by admin

My Name is Adrienne Ford. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania and currently live here with my loving husband, and two beautiful babies- Luke, my rough and tumble yet sweet as pie two year old, and my beautiful baby girl Karina.
I am a kindergarten teacher by trade, but have left that field to be a stay-at-home Mama for the time being. I have enjoyed going down this road of staying at home with my kiddos, but I could not do it without a cup of coffee in hand! I got into scrapbooking when my son was born in 2010, so I am fairly new at this awesome hobby. I found that I not only needed a way to house all my gorgeous photos of him, but I also needed a creative outlet that was just for me. ( My husband was also was begging me to get a hobby!) Since then I have been evolving as a scrapper and have been creating like crazy!
I love to try new things and work with several types of designs, mediums and colors. However, I have come to find that my “style” has become much more refined since beginning my scrapbooking adventures.  I LOVE mixed media and adore working with art mediums of all types. I primarily start my creative process by choosing a patterned paper or an embellishment, and then use that as a springboard for my color choices, photos etc. I almost always apply Gesso, misting and stamping to my backgrounds and then go from there. I love to experiment with color, flowers, chipboard, and any type of art medium.

I am SO thrilled to be a part o the Scrap FX team and am looking forward to my adventures exploring with Scrap FX Products! I hope that we can all gain inspiration from one another in the coming year!

I wanted to do a couple of shares with you so you can get to know my style. It just so happens to I had done quite a bit of white washing with these two layouts….hehe…:)

This first one I was very drawn to the swirls of the flourish. When playing around with this piece, I was trying to decide which direction I wanted it to be going, then I spotted the beautiful butterfly frame in my stash- putting the two of them together, they became so harmonious and married well together. What a pair! I have primed these pieces and simply dabbed my finger in some acrylic paint and lightly dabbed and blended the paint onto my chippies.

For the next one, I was very much inspired by the gears on this beautiful tree chipboard peice. I love the masculine/steampunk feel it has…. I found this photo of myself and my DS and thought that they might be a good match 🙂

The background was created using lots of mediums I love the layers and layers it involved. I sometimes have to learn when to say when with the art mediums 🙂
The chippies were treated in the same manner. I primed them with Gesso, then inked with brown  chalk ink. For the tree, I used some beautiful Stampendous Embossing Powder in Marine and Bronze here and there. I finally VERY LIGHTY hit it with a thin layer gesso.
