A daughter…

by admin

Hi everyone,

Sharryn here today to share a layout I’ve just created all about our one and only daughter. Having six children we often get asked questions like ‘How many boys and girls’ and ‘Did you keep trying for a girl?’. We have five sons and just one beautiful girl and she was the second born. She is an amazing girl and we are very blessed to have her as our daughter. So when I’m asked if we kept trying for another girl I always answer with ‘No…God through away the mould when Rhiannon was born’.

I’ve used a mix of new and older Scrap FX chipboard on this page as I still have a thousand favourite pieces I just love so much. I wanted to create a Shabby Chic feel on this layout with some pretty clusters using chipboard and other embellishments. Although the colours aren’t traditionally Shabby Chic I must say I’m quite happy with how it all came together.

Create small clusters around your page in a visual triangle making it easier for the viewers eye to move more freely over it.

To keep the page balanced I simply painted all my chipboard pieces with Gesso then inked over them again with white ink. I concentrated more on the visual triangle of the page to make it easier for the viewers eye to move freely around it. Of course, my focal point was the photo which I matted with layers of torn paper and mesh. I used foam mounting tape on each layer to make it pop more from the page and add dimension. I placed some Chicken Wire under my photo that I had in my ‘scrap pile’ that sits on my desk. It’s full of bits and pieces from other projects I can re-use. Once I was happy with my photo matting and placement I adhered the stunning Ornate frame over the top.

Directly under the photo to the right I created my first cluster with flowers, delicate die cuts, muslin and one of the AWESOME new Scrap FX Zipper Pulls. I absolutely LOVE these!! They come in a pack of 6 and are a must have for any style project!!

Use pretty die cuts and flowers to accent your chipboard pieces.

My second cluster was placed to the bottom left and slightly down from the photo. Another layered, delicate and pretty cluster using the beautiful Scrap FX Wishing Well placed on a lovely paper doily. I tucked some gorgeous feathers under the Wishing Well and added a pretty butterfly to the top.

Layer embellishments to create clusters rather than place them in a row.

Finally, right at the bottom of the page and directly under the photo I placed my title. Using the beautiful Wordlet – A Daughter is a Gift of Love I simply placed some mesh and muslin underneath it for texture and added a couple of butterflies to it to tie the whole page together.

Place soft textures under Wordlets such as muslin and mesh.

Next time you’re scrapping why not try and create a page with clusters using a visual triangle? I’m sure you’ll be more than happy with the results.

Until next time….Sharryn xx
