Happy New Year Crafters

✨✨🎇🎆

My turn up on the blog with my first post for the year.

I managed to score a few days off and I made the most of them with quiet days at home, crafting and creating in my happy place in the air conditioning.

I have a couple of projects to share with you today, a double art journal page and another single art journal page that could be a canvas.

Let’s take a look at the double page first, I started with a colour scheme that I don’t use very often, a berry/maroon, mustard, yellow, bronze combo. I also utilised the awesome new stencil from Scrap FX called Hashtag Stencil, i think it has become my new favourite. I used watercolours, inks, distress stains and distress crayons to create the colour and a gorgeous shade of buttermilk acrylic paint for the face.

If you have trouble drawing faces or are in the beginning stage, the Faces Collage paper is the perfect addition to your stash. I used one of the faces to complete this layout then created her head, hair and neck to complete the look, all you have to do is add colour then.

My second project is a quick and simple art journal page/canvas making great use of acrylic paint along with the Doodle Pattern Stamp.

To create the background, stamp and reload with colour and dry in between each layer. It creates the perfect subtle patterned background on which you can add a large focal piece. I used the Floral Window Stencil as my base then added extras to create a Mandala. Add a bit of white/black paint pen work and a nifty quote and you have a quick and simple but effective page.

Here is a handy visual list of the products I used for both projects and all the links to the shop. Head on over to the shop to have a look and ask your local scrapbook store to order your favourite pieces in !
