Our New Feathered Friends

by admin

Hi there to all you wonderful Scrap FX fans,

Hope you’ve all been well and had plenty of creative time. As usual I’ve been very busy but I’ve promised myself some time out just for me each week from now on as I’ve been feeling quite overwhelmed with everything and scrapping gives me a bit of time to just relax and create and throw those cares away for a while. Very therapeutic.

One of the first things I wanted to do when we moved was to get some chickens. I just adore them! We had one many years ago who was a fabulous chicken with a huge personality. My husband and one of our sons set about building a chicken coop so recently we went and bought 4 laying chickens. They are simply gorgeous! They all have names to! We have T-Rex, Nugget, Penny and Princess 🙂 Can’t wait till they start laying.

Of course, I had to scrap a layout of our new feathered friends with this months fabulous range from Scrap FX. Here are 2 of our sons and me with 3 of the chooks:

Aren’t they gorgeous?

I’ve used quite a bit of chipboard on this page but still managed to keep some white space to keep the layout flowing. I’ve used one of my all time favourite Scrap FX chipboard pieces, the Chicken Wire which I’ve cut into pieces and and adhered it around the photo to frame it and a larger piece at the bottom right peeking through the patterened paper. I also used it as a template on the page with some mists for added dimension without the bulk.

I used the Feathered Friends wordlet for my title which I inked and embossed in two different colours to show up the detail in the Wordlet better and to tie it in with the larger feather I’ve used:

Use two different coloured inks on Wordlets with extra details.

I’ve also used this gorgeous Feather (that comes in a 2 pack) to reinforce the theme of the layout. Again, this was inked with a colour I had close enough to the actual chickens then embossed.

Try colouring chipboard to match actual photos on your project.

I had lots of fun with this page with all the different chipboard elements, misting and inking.

Until next time take care

Sharryn xx
