Letting the Good Times Roll Around Our Jungle

by admin

Hi ScrapFX Fans!  Scarlett with you today to share a couple of LOs showing a bit of the fun times we have around our ‘jungle’.

This first page features some crazy photos my daughter and I took on New Year’s Eve with my iPhone.  We may have gotten a little looney in the wee hours after midnight.  I used the Random Dots stencil (2013172) with paste on the background to break up the black and give a fun confetti like effect.  Once the paste was dry I colored over the dots quickly with watercolors and added some glitz with glitter glue to certain ones.

The Let the Good Times Roll (2013242) wordlet was perfect for titling this page.  To alter up this piece I began by painting it with pearlescent white paint.  Once dried, I coated the piece sparsely with VersaMark, shook some embossing powder on, and heat embossed.  To finish it off I outlined the lettering with a black pen.

We have our own mini lion in the house!!! ahahaha!  Isn’t he cute??! I was elated to capture this perfect shot of him on my lap.  So yes, I do indeed live in a jungle and this page was such a treat to create.  Not only did I create about my fav little lion (shh don’t tell, the others round here will get jealous you know ;)) but working with all those leaves and jungle animals was uber fun!!

To make the leaves I used the Leaves A Simple Stamps (2013344) with black acrylic paint and stamped them on a variety of patterned papers.  I then cut them out and arranged them all over my page.  I so will be doing this again as I love the look it achieved.

I started everything off by using the Hexagonal Pattern Stencil (2013167) on the background with some paste.  Once the paste dried I pounced over it with a variety of paint colors in both matte and metallic hues.  Next came the decision of animals, because what is a jungle page without the animals to go with it right?  The lion came from the Cat Family Pack (2012225) and is altered up with some metallic paint and metallic paint mixed with texture paste for the mane.  The giraffe, gorilla, and rhino (not seen in this shot) all came from the Zoo Animals (2012235) Pack.  I think my favorite thing about all these animal pieces is how realistic looking they are plain and how easily you can make them come even more to life with a few simple touches!  On the giraffe I used a combo of metallic paint and regular paint for the spots.  The gorilla – even though he is hard to see –  was done up using some Black Lava Paste.  This gave him a really cool texture, very gorilla like.

Here you can see the rhino and how he is all decked out with some colored coarse texture paste for his body and a white gel pen was used for his horns.

And that my friends is how we roll around our jungle, making goofy faces and enjoying nap time.
