Magical Birthday by Niamh

Hi All,

I am still playing with the June release of the Birthday themed products, which has come in extremely handy when scrapping for a little girls third Birthday!  This 12 x 12 layout took no time at all to create, and the chipboard elements add to the magical feel of the page.

I decided that the page needed some black to balance the bold primary colours of the scrapbooking paper, so I heat embossed all the chipboard with black embossing powder. To highlight the magical, unicorn nature of such an important 3rd birthday, I also added shredded iridescent glitter to the embossing powder while it was still warm. This gave a beautiful effect and just the right amount of sparkle! I was also very lucky with he outline stars, and the were the perfect size to frame the stars on the scrapbook paper to begin with. I used both the frames and the inside stars, so nothing went to waste.

Paint Long and Prosper & Mixed Media stand by Ros Aggett-Madley

Hi, thank you for joining me again this month.  Today I’m sharing a simple art journal page and and little off the page project.

After painting my background, I have adhered some Bookprint Transparency to my background.  I just cut random pieces of this and used matte medium to stick it down in 3 places to form a visual triangle.

I’ve then taken one of my scrap pages that I started a background on a while ago that I wasn’t happy with.  I think I’ve said before that I always keep these to re purpose them for future projects.   I’ve used a sponge and black paint with the Flower Buds Stencil and once cut, used these to make the bodies/dresses of my Queens.

For my title I have cut a strip from the Art Words Transparency and painted behind this with a posca pen.

My next project began with a desk stand that my friend Deena Otway gave a few of us at a retreat a couple of years ago.  I finally got around to painting it and love how it’s turned out.

After giving it a couple of coats of chalk paint I have used the Paint Brushes Stencil and black paint on the ends of the stand.  I then coloured each brush with paint pens and went over the top of this with the stencil again to neaten the finish.

I added a paintbrush to the front and also the word Create from the Create with Passion Stencil.

I love it so much that I’m going to make a permanent spot on my desk for it.

Hope you’ve been inspired.

Hi All,

Today I am sharing a canvas I have created to capture a favourite photo of my youngest son as a baby.

Hi friends!

Today I want to share this mixed media canvas with you. I hope you like it and get inspired!

To start I brushed my canvas with white gesso and then I used Number Crunch stamps with archival black ink.

Then I made some stencils with white texture paste

I colored the background with some spray colors using a brush and water, to have a watercolor effect.

Then I glued some resin embellishments and I brushed a mix with 3d matte gel and art stones.

I prepared my chipboards using versamark pad and embossing powders.

So finally I glued them on my canvas and I made some big splatters with inks as final touch

Here some close ups to show you details:

That’s all for today, thanks for stopping here!

Hugs, Lisa

Happy 1st Birthday – Layout by Guylaine

I show you today a page under the theme anniversary with a little step by step

Lets see the final result first:

Fisrt, I used the stencil mini roses with modeling paste to make my background

I colored my background with distress oxyde spray

I then added another spray color. I did not want it everywhere and not in drops. To control my fluid, I use a piece of plastic packaging that I crumple and stamp in my ink to then stamp on my page.

I am assembling the main elements of my page

I chose matching embellishments and my chipboard

I embossed my chipboard with embossing powder. For the title, I embossed with two powder colors. I also left 2 flat chipboard, simply inked with brown distress ink.

I finally put all my embellishments and chipboard on my page and finished by putting several drops of black iRRISISTIBLE. In order not to spray my picture, and the textual elements, I hide them with old paper scraps.

here is the final result again

and some close ups

Hi everyone!  I am very excited to share with you my latest scrapbook page that I made with Scrap FX products that I love!

My page is entitled “Happy Heart” and while envisioning my page, I knew I wanted to scrap this photo of my daughter, Anne:

Here is my completed page:

Here is my step by step tutorial which will include the Scrap FX products that I used along the way!

First, I distressed the edges of my paper:

Next, I stamped the edges of my paper with the following foam stamps:

Rose Garden:

I used versa-mark stamp pad and heat embossed the images with black embossing powder.

I covered the smaller matts with cheesecloth:

And added the wire flower silhouette:

I stamped my background paper with the number crunch foam stamp, then spritzed it with water and black ink spray:

Number Crunch foam stamp:

While the paper was drying, I heat embossed my chipboard pieces with silver embossing powder, and went over some areas on each piece with darker celestial embossing powder:

Balloon Frame:

Celebrating in Style Wordlet:

I also stamped a piece of vellum paper that I had on hand with the rose garden stamp (as seen above) and celestial embossing powder.  I cut out these flowers to use later:

Finally, I put everything together. I moved things around the tucked things in here and there until I was happy with the arrangement.  Then I glued everything down.  Even after I have everything in place, I add extra touches, like cheesecloth, misting, ink splatter, glitter, and ribbon.  I added the cut out vellum, heat embossed flowers and added ribbon to the balloons.

Here is a close-up:

I used the phrases “Let success by measured by the happiness in your HEART” and “Happy Heart” from the Love Transparency:

I also added the beautiful black and white butterflies:

Here are some more close-ups and different views:

Thank you for visiting today.  I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and that you are inspired to create a page of your own!

Art Journal Page by ….. Lynn

Hi everyone,  today I am sharing with you an art journal page:

I have used the image transfer technique with matte medium for the photo – I love how this comes out when art journalling.

The background colours are paper artsy paints and I have used the “ghosting” effect.  This is where you put down the colour, and go over when dry with another colour – in this case I have used white.  Then you place your stencil on top and use a wet wipe to remove the white.

I have also stamped numbers around the page and highlighted them with a black marker.

Playing with distress oxide sprays by Niamh

by Niamh Baly | Comments Off on Playing with distress oxide sprays by Niamh

Hi All,

I was super excited to get my hands of the June release of Scrap FX products, as it was all about Birthdays. I love Birthdays, but am terrible at remembering to send cards, so this release gave me the push I needed to create a set of 8 cards – ready for any occasion. Plus I got to play with my distress oxide sprays and have found a way to love them again!!!

First up – ready for cards? I used some old alcohol ink prints as a background and stuck on some of the larger phrases from the Birthday Transparency. I then mounted these up on black card so that each piece had a thin border. I then grabbed my gel plate, some stencils and my distress oxide sprays and went to town creating some interesting backgrounds for my cards. I loved how soft and muted the backgrounds became, yet they tied in perfectly with the focal images.

When I finished playing with this set, I realised I had two background cards spare. So I placed the black loopy script and numbers onto the surface and loved the contrast of the black and cool colours. To finish off these cards I added the Birthday and Celebrate chipboards, highlighted with some gold wax. These two cards became my favourites of the lot – event though they took minutes to throw together.

Here is a link to the video showing the entire process of the creation of these cards. It explains the gel printed background in much more detail.

When I had the sprays out, I decided I would also play in my use it up journal and break in the flower bud stencil.

I applied crackle texture paste through the stencil and left it to dry naturally. Usually I would use a heat gun, but the crackle effect does work best if you leave it to dry by itself. Once it was fully dry, I sprayed the page with different colours of the distress oxide sprays. I dried each colour between applications to create a layered colour effect. If you spray them all at once, the colours will mix together.

Finally I added some chipboard pieces, do what you love, love what you do, to celebrate why I love working in my journal. I highlighted the pieces with some gold wax. This is a really simple journal page, but it was designed to play around with some new products and test out how they worked together in my journal – and I loved the result.

Here is a link to the process video of creating the journal pages:
