My Kinder Kids by Scarlett Salamone

by Scarlett

Hey, hey, hey!! Scarlett here with my first DT post and I couldn’t be any more delighted!

Having the chance to share creations with you all using the fantabulous ScrapFX chipboard pieces is an honor indeed. For my first project I went with a LO to show off a variety of chipboard pieces and my love for setting up little scenes on pages!

I love setting scenes on my pages and this photo begged to have a little one created around it. I wanted a primary color scheme - I LOVE lots of color!! - so I went through my school paper stash and grabbed a ton of chipboard.

In my former life I was a city raised kindergarten teacher – these are some of my favorite (sshhhh, just kidding) past students – they spent many a weekend at my house with my family and me.

I use the Kinder wordlet (2006250) for my title - added white embossing powder, heated it up, and pounced navy paint over the top - yellow for the smiley!! The addition of some twine added a fun little touch. The other piece in my title is a negative Cloud A - Flourish (2010145) backed with patterned paper, dabbed with paint, and outlined with a gel pen - I'm a cloud lovin' lunatic and these seriously hit the spot - I was delightfully surprised to discover each piece split apart -

Now I reside in the country and am living it up ‘down on the farm’ – so to speak we really don’t have a farm per se, but live in the middle of a corn field on what used to be a fully functioning farm – I actually run our German Shepherd training/kennel business – you’re sure to see plenty of countryside, dogs, and kids in the future!

Besides being ridiculously obsessed with clouds I've got an equal affection for trees - this little one from the Tree Set (2009107) is covered with coarse texture paste on the trunk and painted up top with some metallic and pearl paints - I added the tiny hearts (Buttons - Heart 2008083) to mock apples - inked them up and added diamond glaze - you can vaguely see a tag (Tags - Mixed White 2012042) tucked amongst the cluster - I'm seriously crushing on these tags!!!

I’ve still got lots of urban spunk in me though and do miss the conveniences of city life greatly at times.

This is another tag from the Mixed White set (2012042) - I stamped and misted both tags on the LO and then outlined them with a water soluble pastel - I like the 'kinder' effect it gave to the page - wrote out my journaling and called it a done one!

Tts been terrific having time to share with you all today! I’d love to hear what kind of subjects rule your pages and how you incorporate chipboard -ScrapFX of course!! – to make those subjects shine.

Have good days!
Scarlett

  4. I really REALLY love the color and techniques on this page! The little owl used almost like a paper clip? FANTASTIC! I really love what you did to alter the chipboard- the paint tip is great because I never thought to try to paint over embossing- I didn’t think it would dry! I also love the layering behind the photo and that little tree is fantastic- I think you and I love very similar things! :)
