Spring on the brain- Scrap FX floral designs

by admin

Hello!

Michelle here with a couple of spring friendly pages using the latest Scrap FX floral designs.

Our recent technique blog hop made one thing crystal clear- Scrap Fx customers LOVE floral designs!

I fully agree.

I wanted to scrap some cute photos of my best friend’s baby boy whom I like to call Mr. Sweet Cheeks- you’ll soon see why.

I used a neutral color palette as I’ve never been one for boy = blue, girl = pink.

I then chose one of my favorite designs from this month’s release:

Dandelion model # 2013006

and all time fave- retro flowers mini model #2010275.

I started with a fabulous piece of Core'Dinations embossed paper which I sanded a bit to give the background a bit of color. The other elements found their way in organically- I just chose them by their tonal values. I love the texture white washi tape gave the page but the edges kept coming up so I decided to stitch them down. Last came the metal buttons from my stash- instant boy page- no cogs necessary.

CUTEST FACE EVER!!! I started with a fabulous piece of Core’Dinations embossed paper which I sanded a bit to show the kraft base color. The other elements found their way in organically- I just chose them by their tonal values. I love the texture white washi tape gave the page but the edges kept curling up so I stitched them down. Last came the metal buttons from my stash- instant boy page- no cogs necessary.

So you see you CAN use flowers on a boy page!!!

When I'm feeling particularly stressed or tired I go mono chrome neautral. The page always comes out pretty and I don't have to worry about mixing colors that will "pop" off each other. I used real Baker's twine ti tie the chipboard to the page- the twine is super thick so I divided the thread in two for easy threading and stitching.

For this page I also used:

Lace Tag Set white model #2012040w (I always use these burned side up- so pretty!)

Happy Go Lucky wordlet model #2012319

For the second page I stuck with a very minimal design.

I am currently trying to teach myself to realize when a page is “finished”.

I think many scrappers have this problem- you get going on a page and it’s just so fun you keep adding till you realize- Hmmm this page looks like I shook my entire scrap desk on it.

The two year anniversary of the Tsunami that devastated part of Japan was on my mind but I didn't want to be too literal so I used an older photo and turned this project into a personal inspiration piece.

I REALLY loved tracing the Sakura onto vellum- cutting them out took quite a while but I think I may have several vellum heavy Sakura pages in my near future- it’s such a fantastic shape!!

I finished the more neutral looking Sakura with Stabilo water color pencil and Tattered Angels Iridescent Gold mist. I then tried white acrylic ink on the triangle and some of the other flowers. The coverage was AMAZING! 1 coat was all I needed.

For this page I used:

Sakura Flowers model #2013009

Endless Beauty wordlet #2013036

Magnolia branch, black paper #2013001 (So beautiful! I actually bent this one on the page a bit for a 3d look- you can’t see it in my photo since I scanned the page)

So there you are- two completely different pages for 1 theme.

Let us know what you think!

Thanks for swinging by!

Adore the vellum flowers you made with the Sakura chippies and the entire look/color scheme of that page!!

  5. Love the neutral look of the nude chippies in the first LO just compliments that theme so well. The flowers used in the the second LO definitely give it an oriental feel, or is it the colours used???? I love it anyhow!!
