“Scrap FX Arrows in three ways” by Michelle H.

by admin

I got very excited when I saw this January’s Scrap FX release.

I LOVE arrows!

I’ve loved them since I started scrapping in 2009.

Suddenly arrows are back in “style” (along with anchors- HUH??! I know- but I still love them).

I had all day to scrap last sunday (a very rare occurrence) so I made a couple of pages.

First page up:

My sister got married in 2010 in Amalfi (I KNOW!) She's always been the fancy one. I've had these Instax prints of our visit to Pompei but haven't scrapped them because they aren't very well exposed but this month's "Pompei" got me so excited I finally put them in my travel book- yay!

My sister got married in Amalfi, Italy in 2010. She’s always been the fancy one. I’ve had these Instax prints from our visit to Pompei but haven’t scrapped them because they aren’t very well exposed.  Pompei is a MESS! You think you’ll be seeing lots of ruins and the infamous bodies covered in ash but in reality you’ll be running around a huge area with very little shelter from the sun or rain. Anything interesting has hundreds of cruise boat tourists shoving you aside to see- they’re worried about getting left behind so they can be vicious. (Also- IT’S AWESOOOOME!!! You need to go!!!)

Some detail shots:

I. LOVE. Scrap FX. ARROW. CHIPBOARD!!!! This one is by FAR my favorite. Using Studio Calico opaque white has become a staple lately- I wish their other colors had coverage as good as this one does.

I. LOVE. SCRAP FX. ARROW BOXES. CHIPBOARD!!!! This one is my favorite. Studio Calico opaque white mist has become a staple for me. I could put this piece anywhere. I also see myself using it as a stencil.

I used the following items for this page:

Arrow Boxes

Arrows, fancy

Manilla lace tags set,

Pompei wordlet,

Explore Theme Pack, (explore, discover, escape mini wordlets)

For the second page I went minimal and monochrome.

I wanted to echo the washed-out tones in my Instax print on the page.

I used the fabulous Scrap FX arrows stencil 2 different ways on this page.

This stencil is GREAT for shaped journaling, wet medium techniques and naturally, embellishing scrapbook pages.

The first element I put on the page was the arrow from the stencil. I prefer using chalk ink pads because the border impressions are usually perfect unlike paint which tends to flow and spread out under a stencil.

Detail shot:

Here you can see the stencil used direct to background paper, stencil used on kraft paper which was cut and added to the page as an embellishment and the actual chipboard arrow finished with some Prima white chalk ink.

Here you can see the stencil used direct on the background paper, I then used the stencil again on painted kraft paper for the arrows next to the photo. Then I added the chipboard arrow in the bottom which was finished with white Prima chalk ink.

I used the following items for this page:

Arrows stencil, Large

Arrows stencil

Arrows, plain

Arrows, fancy

I hope you give Scrap FX stencils a try.

This is the Scrap FX Roses stencil. I used it on my December Daily album with light molding paste to create a beautifully textured background.

The are wonderfully sturdy and I love that they are see through so I can see if paint is staying put or “traveling” (spreading beyond the stencil design borders)- huge plus for me.

Also? This B is for BALLOON!! I’m teaching my daughter the alphabet using some choice Scrap FX designs. SO VERSATILE!!

-Now go make some time to scrap!
