Journal Page – KarenJ

by Karen Jarman

Hi ScrapFX Fans!

Karen with you today. Are you new to Art Journaling or do you ever feel intimidated and not know where to start? I know I have certainly felt that way. Today I am sharing a few tips and ideas that I hope gives you some inspiration to start or try again.

What is this one thing you need to know? There is no “right” or “wrong” way!

Not sure where to start, is the blank page staring at you?  I have  the perfect solution, Rice Collage Paper! Look at this gorgeous Lace a Teal collage paper. You could literally paste this to a page and you are done!

So I did just that, pasted the sheet over the entire page and used this as the jumping off point.

I love a journal with a bit of dimension and roughness and using stencils is perfect to give that tactile feel to any page. I smooched modelling  paste through the Script Stencil as the first layer of dimension for the page. The modelling pasted was like butter over this stencil it so smooth.

Next step, Stamping. Stamping can give great dimension to a page and depending on the colour of ink can be subtle or deep and rich and can be the star of the page. For this one I went for the subtle side and matched my ink to the teal of the collage paper. The used the gorgeous Lace Panel stamp on the edges of the page (left and right hand side)

I wanted a little more on the page but didn’t want to  overwhelm and cover up the base I had completed so I fussy cut some tree branches from the Birds and Words transparency and added these to the corners of the page.

I like to add a title or quote on my pages and I have used the Kraft Word Journey sheet for this one. Your title can be anything you want it to be.  I like to use favourite quote or sometimes a title or quote isn’t necessary. It’s totally your choice.

The final flourish is always splatters for me! I just can’t help myself!

My last tip – Remember all of your pages are great, all of them are perfect – because your art journal is YOURS. It is not up to what anyone else’s opinion on what should be in it or what you create!

Thanks so much for stopping in today. I hope you have a great creative week.
