Art Journaling with Elisa Ablett

by Elisa Ablett

Hello Crafters,

Elisa here from the Scrap FX design team with my latest design team post.

I had so much fun creating one art journal page….i then created another one!

For the first art journal page, I used the Silhouette of the ‘Outline Woman’ and added the Newsprint Collage paper underneath. Before I adhered the silhouette to the collage paper I added watercolours to the collage paper and dried it completely, you could iron it on a low heat to straighten it out, i then carefully trimmed around the edges to create the outline. I used one of my favourite Scrap FX stencils in the background – Circle Weave Stencil along with the Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays.

The second Art Journal page features a stripey painted background using bright acrylic paint. I then used the NEW Zinnia Stencil and traced carefully around all the edges. I moved the stencil around the page and kept tracing all the edges of the stencil til i had filled the background. Then using a black paint marker I coloured the insides and around the outside of each of the stencilled areas. When i had finished I used a white gel pen to outline as well just to make it pop!! For my focal point I used a lovely Vintage Face from the Vintage Faces Collage paper and added a bit of life to her face with watercolour pencils. The title is cut from the Daphne Dot Collage cut apart sheet.

That’s it from me today everyone!

Don’t forget that art journaling is a great way to get all your thoughts on paper using a therapeutic way, so if you are feeling a little cooped up or anxious, get your art journal out!!
