You can never have to much Happy -Art journal page by Dannii

by Danielle Scholz

Hello Lovelies,

Back again with another project in my ScrapFx Lace Junk Journal.

I had so much fun with these pages, creating a double lay out using the collage -rice paper Real women.

I started the page by layering gesso on the pages. I then picked the text rice paper and tore it into strips to collage on my background.

Once this layer was dry, I selected some paper Artsy paints in warm colours, and using a small paint brush painted streaks across my background blending the colours together. I then added some cream paint to the edges, and streaked back into the centre of the page.

Once this layer was finished I added the circular shawl stencil with yellow paint and then added some stamps with archival inks to the background. Then using light modelling paste and the seed pod stencil, I added a few lotus pods to my page.

Choosing the Real women Rice paper, I cut out my image, and sponged a little white gesso on the background where I wanted to place the rice paper. This was so I could avoid too much red bleeding through. Once the gesso was dry, I glued down my image with gel medium and dried again with a heat gun.

Using Layer cake paints, prism colour pencils and posca paint pens, I then coloured the pods and lady to suit my page.

Once I was happy with the coloured images I then proceeded to add some stamped foliages to the page to ground the images and to create more drama. I used the Frond stamp and simple blooms stamps. Once dry I then doodled with black and white posca pens over the stamped areas and modelling paste to connect the pieces and create some more visual interest. I then edged the page with black ink and splattered with a mustard colour paint. Choosing my quote from the Love transparency I mounted it on white card and then add to the page. Finally to finish I rubbed a little gold wax around the edges and on the raised areas of the pods.

Thank you so much, for taking the time to check out my new project. I hope you enjoyed my quick page and you are inspired to have a play.
