Family Matters Double Layout by Deb

by Deb Adams

Hi Readers,

Today I am sharing a double layout I created featuring photos of myself with my parents as a child.

Aren’t these type of photos precious. I only have a rare few.

I firstly swiped white gesso randomly across 2 white 12 x 12″ pages to allow the inks & paints that I applied to be manipulated.

I poured rubbing alcohol onto the white surface then applied drops of Archival Ink reinker (Fern Green) & Distress oxide reinker (Antique Linen & Tea Dye) swirling & mixing the colours across the surface.  Apply more alcohol to help the colours drip & run. It forms a really unique opaque finish. Let it airdry or carefully use a heat tool.  The paper will warp but it will return to reasonably flat.

I mounted my photos on a few card layers so I could check placement on the layout.

For the next layers I applied Dina Wakley acrylic paints with my finger, before rubbing the paint away through various stencils with a just moist baby wipe.

I used the colour Fuschsia with the Circle Drops stencil & Sedona with the Circular shawl stencil as complementary colours to the background.

Background random stamping was applied in Black Archival ink with the House & Home stamp.

The Fabulous Flower silhouettes were applied along the bottom of the page with matte gel medium.

The Michelle Logan Flowery Bits Collage paper was fussy cut with small scissors.

I applied the two mounted photos in the outer thirds of each page.

I arranged the flowers & leaves from the collage paper around the photos, shaping & popping pieces up with foam tape.

The Infinity Heart chipboard was painted with black gesso & applied when dry to the layout.

Splatters of gold & white Acrylic ink was splattered with a brush to finish.

Cheers for now,

Deb Adams
