Wooden Tag Full of Possibilities

by Deb Adams

Today I am sharing an oversized wooden tag

with this vintage rustic collage to display this lovely antique family photo.

I love how the baby is propped up on a huge gum tree stump, & all are wearing beautiful white clothes

but their shoes look a little worst for wear.

I cut the wooden tag from MDF approx 13 x 6 x 1/2″,

similar to a Tim Holtz etcetera tag.

I smeared gold embossing paste over most of the surface

then applied a layer of white crackle paste randomly.

Crackle size varies with the thickness of the paste.

Once dry, I coloured the background with Distress Sprays in Rusty Hinge, Broken China, Cracked Pistachio & Fossilized Amber.

This accentuated the cracks & the gold base.

Lots of layers of vintage style ephemera were applied over this base.

The glues I used were Distress Collage medium & Heavy Gel medium.

I love the raw chipboard chicken wire from Scrap FX that adds to the rustic effect I was going for.

I also wanted to add a touch of Australiana as the photo was taken in North East Victoria around 1900.

This was achieved with the Gum Leaves stamp & Gum Leaves stencil coloured & fussy cut from textured paper & the Kangaroo paw chipboard.
