Contrasting art journal pages

by admin

Hi All,

Today I have two fun art journal pages for you to recreate. One is playing with a lot of science/space stuff and the other is super simple!

The space theme one was me playing around watching the new Space Force show on Netflix while I was creating . I didn’t realise until I had finished that the show had influenced my final piece.

Here is a link to the video showing you set by step how to create the page. Below the video link are some close ups of the final piece.

The second page is very colourful and really simple, because I’ve done the hard work for you:) The background is one of the newer releases, the collage rice papers from Scrap FX designed by myself. I love these pages as you can tear them up – or if you want a background in an instant – just glue it down onto your page using gel medium. I like to put weird magazine collages over the top. This one was a figure cut out of a magazine with an extra pair of larger eyes added over the top to give a sense of altered perspective. A crown and a snarky quote always set these pages off as well 🙂

Here is a close up of the background details in the journal page. You can add more details over the top of both the background and the collage using paint markers.

I hope these two pages inspire you to get out and create. As always – these projects can be scaled down for a card front (particularly the magazine collage) or up for a scrapbook page. Here are the scrap FX products I have used in the pages above.

Happy creating,
