Skull Book – Guest Designer Drycha

by admin

My Guest spots on the Scrap FX blog are coming to an end and I want to Thank You for every comment and being there with me 🙂 It was great experience – thanks a lot Scrap FX!!

For my final project I have made a pirate book!! Best for pirate-boys for drawing maps of treasures and writing secret plans ;))

On the cover are big skull (available by special order, through your Scrap FX stockist) and pirate ship and pieces of Barbed Wire Stands.

You can find here a lot of acrylic paint (dark brown), white gesso and Crackle Paint (Picket Fence, Vintage Photo and Weathered Wood). I sprayed the cover with Glimmer Mists (Black Magic, Raven, Arctic Blue) and Maya Road Mist (Latte Metallic Mist) and water (to dilute and mix colors).

Whole cover: (I glued compass on the back):

Inside are 70 sheets (140 pages) of craft paper sewn with twine and two bookmarks with skull beads:

How to get evanescent crackles? Choose acrylic paint and crackle paint with the same or similar colors. Paint chipboard with acrylic paint and add crackle paint in selected areas (it works better if you don’t touch the paint with the brush, let the crackle paint drip. There’s  reason not to mix crackle paint in a jar with other medias). Now just rub and mix them together but inaccurately. You can use silicone brush, fingers or piece of cardboard / credit card/etc. (usual brush for painting will not be the best idea; soft brush absorb a lot of paint, hard leaves smudges on thin layers.)

Inside are skull chipboards too.

Hope you like my pirate idea 🙂

Best regards!!!

Drycha
