Mother’s Keepsake Box & Rose Garden Tin

by Deb Adams

Hi!  Today I am sharing two projects that feature decorated & repurposed containers.

The first project was created from a cosmetic box that I converted into a keepsake box.

It will be used to store photos & small mementos that belonged to my Mother.

The box was first coated with Black Gesso.

I then adhered a piece of gauze with matte gel medium over the surface including the sides of the box.

The Damask Border stencil was applied twice on the top of the box with crackle medium & left to dry.

All the chipboard pieces were coloured with Tarnished brass Distress stain

& dipped in UTEE & heated to melt.

I used the Mother sentiment, Remember Flower, Leafy Collage Trellis & Love Key.

Subtle tints of colour were added with Distress oxide inks.

Rust paste drips added under the chipboard.

Beautiful texture on the sides of the box was made with the Flourish Panel stencil & grit paste.

All the textured surfaces were coated again with Black Gesso & left to dry.

A final light rub with Prima Finnabair Waxes brought out all the beautiful design.

Here I used Rose Gold & Soft Satin.

My second project is a repurposed large tubular tin.

The Rose Garden chipboard was heat embossed twice with Platinum/Clear UTEE mix.

Makes it look like golden metal.

The rose stencil was used with grit paste in a spiral around the tin.

The chicken wire & Adorned Branch chip boards were applied to form a spiral trellis for the roses.

Multi coloured roses were applied with Heavy Body Gel medium as well as the chipboard & gauze.

Finnabair Art alchemy paints were applied to the stencilled areas then sprayed with water to form drips.

White Gesso was dry brushed on the flowers to tone down the colour. Still very bright!

Cheers for now,

Deb Adams
