Watercolour Mini Books

by Deb Adams

Hi There,

Today I want to share two mini books that I created with total inspiration

from our Design Team Leader, Michelle Logan.

Each mini book was created from a single sheet of Watercolour paper. Mine was A3 size & 300 gsm.

When folded each have formed 4 page mini books measuring 4.75 cm x 10.5 cm.

I have included the link to Michelle’s video to show construction of this book.

My versions have been decorated using Scrap FX Stencils, Stamps & Rice Paper.

I chose to create mine in two colour variations. Cool & warm colours.

Even the back of the books look so yummy!

I spritzed each sheet of paper generously with water, then floated Colour Blast pigment powders

& water colour inks on each sheet & let the colours blend & run.

I added spray & droplets of Gold Acrylic ink as well.

I added texture using stencils & stamps as well as loose writing with pencil & marker before folding to form the booklets.

On the cover of the warm coloured book my focal point is a flower using the Camelia Stencil with Distress oxide inks.

I bound the spine with specialty Rice Paper by Michelle Logan for Scrap FX  Sketchings no. 1.

It was easily torn by running a wet fine brush over surface where you wanted it to tear.

Applied to surface with mat gel medium.

I have used small pieces on each inner page as well as on the covers.

Extra texture on the inner pages was made with the Loopy script stamp & the Round & Round stamp set.

This book features stamped Plant designs. This first one features the Bluebells stamp & the Elm Leaves.

For the next I heat embossed with UTEE the Large Seed head & Small seed head stamps.

My final page features the cute Toadstool stamps & the Gum tree stamp heat embossed with UTEE in the background.

Extra texture & colour was added with Distress crayons & Markers. This helps blend the stamps & rice paper into the page design.

My cool colour book features this lovely Doodled feather stamp & the Journey stamp on the cover.

I really love the Collage Papers.  The variety of patterns is really cool.

The page below features the Koi stamp.

Extra texture in this book was added with contrasting colours & the Triangles stencil, Chevron background stamp & the Words of Wisdom stencil.

Inside pages are decorated with stamped images of creatures & stars.

I chose these images that have a lacey appearance.  They stamp beautifully.

I used Chipped Sapphire Distress oxide for all the stamped images.

Above is the Jewelled Bird stamp & below is the Doodled star stamp set.

Plenty of room for some photos or personal journalling.

Finished off with more doodling, splatters of black, white & gold.

Hope you have enjoyed my post.

It is well worth watching, as well as her other videos.

Cheers for now,  Deb
