“Forever” . . . A Mixed Media Step-by-Step Tutorial by Sharon!

by Sharon Fritchman

Hi everyone!  Sharon here . . .

Today I am thrilled to share my latest mixed media scrapbook page with you:

Read on to learn more about how I made it . . .

I always start by choosing the photo that I want to scrap.  This month’s theme is “vintage” so I had the perfect photo of my mom and dad on their wedding day.  (It blows my mind to see my parents so young!!!  My mom was very beautiful.)  Next, I printed the photo:

I picked the chipboard pieces that I wanted to use and loosely arranged them on the vintage 12 x 12 background paper that I had in my stash:

The chipboard pieces that I picked are as follows:

Vintage Frame chipboard:

Filigree Lace chipboard:

Classic Beauty wordlet:

Medallion C chipboard:

Adorned Branch chipboard

I usually heat emboss my chipboard pieces, but this time I changed things up a bit and painted them with white acrylic paint:

After the paint dried, I added distress crackle paint to give them a more vintage look:

Next, I went over the pieces with rose-colored distress ink to bring out the crackle look.  Then I added some pink glitter to sparkle them up:

I was very happy with the way my chipboard pieces turned out.  Next I worked on my background paper.  I embellished the paper with distress ink, texture paste, and the following beautiful stencils:

Damask stencil:

Flourish Panel stencil:

Next I used the stitching stamp:

to created a border around my page:

I cut 2 pretty borders from the patterned border transparency:

And a phrase from the Love transparency:

I added some stamping with the Medallion stamp:

Then added touches of glitter.  Next I arranged and re-arranged everything on my page until I had it just right.  Then I adhered everything with clear adhesive glue.  I used Art Glitter Glue.

Here are some close-ups:

And one more look at my completed page:
