Explore . . . a Mixed Media Scrapbook Page by Sharon

by Sharon Fritchman

Hi everyone!  I cannot believe that it’s August already.  Where did the time go?  This year is certainly flying by.

Today I have a step by step tutorial showing you how I made my mixed media, travel scrapbook page entitled “Explore.”

Here is the photo that inspired me . . . it’s a photo of the Bermuda sunrise . . .

My husband won a trip to Bermuda through his work, and we got to spend 5 days there!  It was absolutely gorgeous!

No onto how I made my page . . .

First, I decided to use the Happy Birthday frame, but since it is no one’s birthday, I cut the words “Happy Birthday” off the frame to use later.

Next I cut the phrase “Adventure is out there! from the Travel Transparency.  I cut and mounted the phrase onto cardstock.

I used my VersaMark stamp pad and the cloud raindrops stencil, stamping the cloud images onto velum.  I heat embossed the images with white embossing powder, then cut them out to use later.

I found patterned paper that looks just like a sunset and tore it into three pieces.  I played around with the arrangement on a piece of 12 x 12 watercolor paper:

Once I had the arrangement that I liked, I sewed it all in place with my black thread and my sewing machine.  I matted the photo with coordinating cardstock and sewed it onto my page.

I also placed the vellum, heat-embossed clouds on my page and sewed them with black thread right through the center of each cloud.

Here’s what it looked like at this point:

I added some stars to my page using the star confetti stencil and opaque texture paste:

I heat embossed my chipboard pieces with white embossing powder, then painted each piece – some with pink paint, some with silver and tarnished brass distressed paint.

Finally I added some stamping to the bottom of my page using the chickenwire stamp with “worn lipstick” and “tuxedo black” stamp pads.

Here are the Scrap FX products that I used . . .
