Fairy Magic . . . a Step by Step Tutorial by Sharon!

by admin

Hi everyone!  I am excited to share my latest layout entitled “Fairy Magic” with a step by step tutorial today.  I used new Scrap FX products and absolutely LOVE them all.  Everything about the creativity that goes into making these items just blow me away every time!

So without further ado, here is my creative process . . .

First, the new releases this month have a girly, fairy, and magic theme which are right up my alley!!!  I knew exactly what photo I wanted to use:

I took this photo at my friend’s cabin at Arrowhead Lake in Pennsylvania, USA, a few years ago.  She is a kid at heart, and decorated the tree right outside her deck with magical windows, a door, and a fairy princess.  I couldn’t help but edit the photo to black and white and added some fairy dust, too!!!

Here is my completed layout:

And here’s my step by step process . . .

I created my own background with watercolor paints, mists on 12 x 12 watercolor paper:

While this was drying, I chose the products that I wanted to use:

I embossed the chipboard pieces with white embossing powder, then embellished them with black and turquoise glitter.  I embellished the keyhole piece with some glitter, too!

Here are the pieces I used:

After the watercolors had dried, and I embossed the background paper using the Diamond Stencil and black glitter embossing powder:

Next, I distressed the edges of my paper:

And adhered it to sturdy 12 x 12 black card stock.  Then I adhered cheesecloth to my page:

I added my matted photo and keyhole  while deciding what arrangement that I liked:

I set this aside and made some embellishments using more Scrap FX products to add to my page . . .

I cut butterflies from the Butterfly Transparency and adhered them to cardstock:

And used the rose garden stamp and heat embossed images onto vellum with white embossing powder:

I cut out the rose images to used later on my page.

Then I cut the phrase “Love gives you WINGS” from the Love Transparency:

I also decided to stamp some wing images from the fairy foam stamp around the border of my page to give it more depth:

Then I put it all together using flowers, bling, and thread that I had in my stash.  When I was happy with the arrangement, I adhered everything to my page.
