Carters Compost

by rachiebabe

Hi girls, I hope you are all having a great summer, here is my first LO I completed for this month using lots of the amazing Scrap Fx chippys plus the new stencils.  The photos are of my BF’s oldest grandson Carter, who at the age of 8 has already started his own business, with help from his Mom and Dad of course. He is into composting and already has 23 customers.  Carter’s favorite quote is ( Every Day is Earth Day) Good going Carter, here is the LO.

I used the cloud and raindrop stencil (2012169), splat stencil (2012170), slide frame (2012110), chicken wire (2011186), wordlet (from little things big things grow (2012079), fence posts(2009255), garden hand tools(2009258) andgarden tools large (2009259)…Here are some closeups of detail:

I used vintage photo, and walnut distress stain on the frame, then inked the edges. For the wordlet I first applied walnut stain, then dabbed on a bit of citrus dabber.

I first applied vintage photo stain on the fence posts, then rock candy crackle, and once dry I applied walnut stain.

On the garden tools I just stained them with wild honey, vintage photo and walnut stain, then used a bit of gold dabber.

I first stained the forest tree with walnut stain, then I applied a thick coat of crackle, once dry I applied walnut stain again, let dry then I dabbed on citrus dabber and a bit of green glitter.  For the cloud stencil I used white cardstock, put the stencil over top and applied lots of gesso.Once dry I cut the clouds out and applied pearl dabber, turquoise perfect pearls, then inked the edges.  The rain drops were a bit tricky, I wanted them clear so this is what I did. I used my magnetic mat & put the stencil over a sheet of plastic, then I applied liquid accents,& placed a crystal on it, once dry I applied diamond stickles, then applied 2 more coats of liquid accents.  When it dried I then lifted the stencil and it was not easy, it took time as I did not want to ruin my raindrops or stencil. I used a scapel as I lifted.

Here is the rest of the wordlet, and small garden tools, the gloves are stained with wild honey and the tools with vintage photo then gold dabber and yes I did use the splats, but once I stared to embellish they sort of got lost!! Thank you for having a look …Rachelle
