Instaperfect layout (plus a bonus card) by Niamh

by Niamh Baly

Hi All,

Niamh here, back playing with the newest Scrap FX releases from February. I loved this release, full of hearts and flowers – lots to make pretty pages with. When I saw the Instaperfect title though – I instantly knew exactly which picture to scrap!!!

This 12 x 12 layout started off as a grungy pink/red colour from an old Basic Grey collection. I then added the heart explosion stencil with distress inks in red/pink hues and the chickenwire stamp in a walnut stain oxide ink to add more grunge. I matted my photo with a doily and more Basic Grey papers, then triple embossed the Instaperfect title, scrawl hearts and #adorable with gold embossing powder. Finally I added the paper flowers inked with gold wax and journaled around the edge of the doily to add a subtle black border. As I already had all my embossing powders out, I created this really quick card which has a much more masculine feel to it. While it could easily be a Valentines Day card, it has so many more possibilities. The Love bingo card itself is about the size of a playing card – so perfect for Artist Trading Cards or making a mini book using it as a front cover. The limit is your imagination.

I triple embossed my bingo card with black powder, then while it was still warm, sprinkled in the gold and pink to get a contrast. While the hearts were still molten I also used my craft knife to swirl the colours and marble the powder. If it cools down and goes gluggy, just reheat the embossing powder and re-marble it. To make the words stand out more, I cut a piece of red card to paste behind them, then glued the entire bingo card down on some graffiti paper from Basic Grey. I trimmed this, then mounted it on the red card to create a simple border, and stuck the entire piece down on the kraft A6 card. Simple. It took me less than 10 minutes to make this card.
