Cupcakes and fun
by admin
Hi everyone, Sharryn here today.
I recently had the pleasure of photographing a good friends daughter’s 1st birthday Cake Smash. Although very messy, it was lots of fun.
She wanted a purple and pink theme so my daughter sewed a gorgeous banner and I made the cake. I had to laugh at the amount of time it took to bake and decorate that cake and it was literally smashed in minutes!
As a birthday present I’ve scrapped some photos from the Cake Smash for my friend.
They were just so cute.
I used the dainty Make a Wish wordlet as my title. It’s so pretty and delicate and fit in beautifully with the layout.
I painted the wordlet white and when dry I gave it a coating of Ice Stickles then added some pearls for a little extra bling.
To the right of the photo strip I clustered some embellishments including a fabulous Party Hat from this pack that I also painted white, coloured the detailed circles in with watercolour crayon then added Ice Stickles and pearls for added dimension and interest.
To make the cake the focus of the photo on the left I framed it with a gorgeous Bow Frame and to top the festivity of the page off I added a beautiful Ribbon Bow to the top right of the last photo. I gave both these pieces of chipboard the same look as the Wordlet and party hat to tie the whole layout together with a soft, feminine look for a beautiful little girl.
Lately I’ve been thinking about making more cards. With all of these birthdays we’ve had of late it’s cost a small fortune just in cards. I do have a stash of handmade cards here but they all seem to be targeted to females. So I’ve decided to get cracking on making some masculine cards for the men and boys in our life.
Here’s one I made for an upcoming birthday.
I simply run the front of the card through the Cuttlebug and cut papers for the background. I used Balloons from this fun pack which I lightly inked over then inked around the edges for definition. I used some twine to tie the three balloons together for fun. I also inked the 50th Birthday wordlet and used it as my main title for the card. Let me just add…these numbered birthday wordlets are just perfect for card making!
So when our friends birthday comes up…I now have a card made ready to give and while I have the bug for card making, I’m off to see how many I can make in one day ready for upcoming birthdays.
Until next time,
Sharryn xx

Beautiful layout and awesome card!
I love this page Sharryn! The frame within a frame idea in the first photo is fantastic and I love your clean and simple design- really wonderful. OH! And that manly birthday card is freaking amazing- my husband would love it.
