“Happy Birthday” by Erin Blegen

Good morning! Erin here to share with you a couple of projects to go along with the “Birthday” theme we’ve got going on this month at Scrap FX. Fortunately I had some great inspiration with which to work as my beautiful niece Lilah just turned 2 this past Friday! So I created a card for the occasion and a layout to follow…

“Happy Birthday”

I was fortunate enough to play “photographer” for my sister at Lilah’s birthday party and so I had my pick of photos for this project! Isn’t she beautiful? Let’s take a look at some close-ups and the chipboard pieces I’ve included here…

I’ve used the very appropriate “Happy Birthday C” title for my page. With a paintbrush, I dabbed on some texture effect to get an almost “stucco” surface, dried with my heat gun, and then gently dabbed on top with my light pink ink pad. To hold my title I’ve used the “Doodad I” flourish, dressing it up the same way.

This beautiful little bird house is from the “Bird Houses” pack. I covered it first with some gesso, blended in some sandy colored ink and then blended gesso over that.

After applying gesso, I tucked this sweet little frame from the “Slide Frames” pack into my cluster.

I used a tag from the “Tags, mixed white” pack to record my hidden journaling. After inking the edges with a pink ink pad, I lightly darkened the edges with some gray ink. Then I attached a lace remnant to the top.

“2nd Birthday” Card

Here is the card I created for Lilah’s 2nd birthday. I love that Scrap FX has age-appropriate titles for cards like this one.  Of course I chose the “Mini 2nd Birthday” title here, using again the texture effect and some light pink ink dabbed over the top. I also used the beautiful “Ribbon Bow” to adorn the top of my card- which, I must say, fit like it was made for this card!
